Legacy Part Replication

Legacy Part Replication: Bring Discontinued Castings Back to Life

Your equipment is down. The original manufacturer closed decades ago. The part is obsolete, and no one makes it anymore. We do. One Off Casting specializes in replicating legacy metal castings—even when drawings are lost, patterns are destroyed, or suppliers have disappeared. Using reverse engineering, 3D scanning, and patternless casting technology, we reproduce discontinued parts with the precision and material properties of the original.

When you need it

When You Need Legacy Part Replication

Every day without that part costs money. We move fast to get you back online.

  • Equipment failure — A critical component breaks and production stops
  • Obsolete parts — The OEM no longer exists or discontinued the part
  • No documentation — Drawings, specs, or patterns were lost over time
  • Single-source dependency — Your only supplier can't deliver
  • Vintage restoration — Historic machinery, vehicles, or equipment need authentic parts
  • Inventory depletion — Last spare part used, no replacements available

The process

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Assessment & Reverse Engineering

Send us your sample, drawings, or whatever you have. Our engineers analyze the part geometry, identify the alloy, and create a manufacturable 3D model.

  2. Material Matching

We identify the original alloy or recommend an equivalent. Our in-house spectrometer can analyze a sample from your existing part to match chemistry precisely.

  3. Patternless Production

Using robocasting and 3D sand printing, we create molds directly from CAD—no expensive tooling, no 8-week pattern lead time.

  4. Casting & Heat Treatment

We pour your part in the correct alloy with full in-house heat treatment capabilities for aluminum and steel.

  5. Inspection & Verification

Every replicated part undergoes dimensional verification and NDT inspection (LPI/MPI available) to ensure it meets or exceeds original specifications.

  6. Delivery

Parts ship from our Arkansas facility. Rush delivery available for critical situations.

Case example

Case Example: How It Works

The Problem: A food processing plant's 30-year-old filling machine failed. The gearbox housing cracked, and the German OEM had been out of business for 15 years. No drawings existed.

Our Solution: The plant shipped us the broken housing. We 3D-scanned the fragments, reconstructed the CAD model, identified the original alloy (ductile iron 65-45-12), and cast a replacement using 3D sand printing.

The Result: New part delivered in 18 days. Production line back online. Cost was 60% less than a full machine replacement.
